Inside Out

We all want to experience authenticity and see it lived out daily in people’s lives. Is it possible to live with authenticity when the things of life come at us so unexpectedly? Will we live with integrity or will we let the pressures of this world shape and change our values and beliefs? We all have a story to tell…..we are all a work in progress. Will you allow Jesus to change you from the inside out?

My desire is to make a difference even though I may not be perfect. It’s so important to not only tell people but to let our actions show them what we believe and the changes that have taken place in our hearts, to share with them the joy and hope that can be found in Christ even through the tough things that take place in life. I want to be real and not ashamed, to live my life from the inside out and reflect Jesus’s love to a world that seems so fabricated. May the words to this song encourage you to join with me as we walk out our faith with boldness in a world that so desperately needs to see the love of Jesus in us!

Committed To You

As I take a look around, I see the break down in marriages, churches, work and relationships with God. We seem very comfortable with giving as little as needed, with no thought of sacrifice. Instead of working on the things that trouble us… we drop out, quit or give up when things get hard. We figure there’s no use so we take the easy way out. But, we hurt ourselves in the process. Jesus was a great example in that He committed Himself to us in a way like no other human could, by sacrificing His life for us. No matter what, He said he would never leave us or forsake us. Today we need to take our covenants with God and each other more seriously. God has such a passion and love for us. Are you willing to be more committed to God and to each other, to grow deeper in the things to which you have dedicated yourself? Matthew 22:37 says - “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. When we are committed to loving God then we will also want to keep commitments in all the other areas of our lives as well. Commitment to God is the foundation for all the others.

My Only Choice

This is a beautiful song that speaks profound truth. Every day we have choices and decisions to make, some are harder than others. We have the freedom to make any choice we like… but with that there are always implications, whether good or bad. In some cases we might get confused or face a crossroad. Fear may begin to grip us and we may become paralysed, letting the situation go on too long without making a decision. Other times, we struggle, hoping to make the right choice because we aren’t sure what kind of results it will yield. These situations are where faith comes in. Of all the things we want and desire, if there is one thing in life that we can be sure of, it is to know the God of the Bible is truth. He is everything we need and long for. Even though we may not realize it…we are looking for love and acceptance more than anything. In our relationship with God, He will guide us into all truth and to better choices. If you put God first and ask Jesus to be a part of your life, it is the best choice you could ever make.

I have put God first, and because of this I have found love, acceptance, and forgiveness. I have an inner peace and satisfaction that far outweighs anything in this world. To give my life to Jesus was to die to myself and live for Christ. In Joshua 24:15 we read “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” In making a choice to live for Christ I can be assured of eternal life and that is something worth living for!

God Can Heal

We all go through painful, heart wrenching circumstances in our lives. These can be very hurtful and sometimes devastating. When in those situations we may feel abandoned and not be sure what is happening in our world. Some of us may look for a quick fix or an easy way out. We may ask why did this happen to me, what’s the purpose? There is no one we can trust more than God for He loves us and understands the pain we go through. After all He knew suffering firsthand; He became sin who knew no sin. It’s through forgiveness and learning to trust that we will grow and our broken hearts will begin to heal. We need to run into the arms of Jesus again and again, to ask His Spirit to give us courage so that we have the strength to keep going. He won’t let us go or let us down. God can heal us. God has a perfect plan for each of us and He will bring those broken pieces together in a way that only He can.

Unshakable

On the news we hear about the global instability. Everywhere we look, we see leaders; businesses, governments, as well as economies that are shaky. We don’t know what the next day will bring, as we fight for a better life. It kind of reminds me of the story about the three little pigs and how their straw and stick houses were blown down by the wolf’s huffing and puffing. But the brick house stood strong! When we build upon a solid foundation, it will stand the test of time. Satan wants instability and destruction and many of the things that are happening in our world today are because of sin and people not living in the truth. Nevertheless, God will use this instability for good. He is building His Kingdom. God is asking us to build our lives on Him and Him alone. He wants to remove what can be shaken so that what cannot be shaken remains. God is our unshakeable rock, our refuge in times of trouble. When you see and hear what is taking place in your life and in this world, put your trust in God. He promises that our faith will be renewed and we will be able to stand firm, being assured and unshakable in the midst of the chaos around us. Psalm 62:2 reads, ‘He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.”

Love So Amazing

When I started to write this song a couple of years ago in Mexico I was at a point where I felt crushed, I wasn’t sure how the hurtful things in my life could ever change. I was trying to make sense of it all. In the quiet moments, sitting by the ocean, God put His arms around me and spoke His comfort to me. He showed me that He could change the tides and that all those painful things could turn into something beautiful. God’s love is so powerful and so amazing. No matter what kind of storms you may be going through, you don’t have to face them without God’s love. He cares about all that we go through.

No Place To Hide

Before I gave my life to Christ there were things that I did that I am not proud of. I am thankful that today I know God has forgiven me.

We can try to hide from each other but we can’t hide from God, He knows everything about us, and we can’t do anything that God can’t see. Satan, our enemy, would be the first to say that we can do things in secret; that we can hide our sin and it will never be found out. This is not true, but a lie. God’s Word tells us that everything that is done in secret or in the darkness will see the full light of day. We are to guard our minds and our flesh. We are to ask ourselves before committing a questionable act, “Am I willing for my friends and family to find out what I am thinking of doing?”

For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.” Luke 8:17

I hope we all will take these words seriously and guard our hearts, purifying our minds by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:2 says, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will”.

When God forgives our sin, He begins a process in us that produces not only outward change but more importantly a complete inner transformation as well.

I Must Tell Jesus

This is an old hymn, one of my favorites. There are times when it seems nobody understands what we are going through or we’re too afraid to share with anyone what’s actually going on in our lives. When faced with different responsibilities, challenges and difficulties in our lives, we may feel alone. But, there is someone greater than us with whom we need not hesitate to share our situations or problems. The person of Jesus Christ will always listen and hear us out. He will never criticize or ridicule us because He loves us unconditionally. We can talk to Jesus, just like we talk to a close friend…. He is willing to be your best friend, if you will allow Him to.

“Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken” Psalm 55:22. When we open our heart to Him and ask Him for help, He will give us comfort and guidance because He always wants what is best for us.

Diamond In The Mud

The words of this song came directly from the many times I have felt so trapped and found it so difficult to live out my passion – those feelings of not being accepted, being treated badly or ignored or not having an opportunity to share my talents and abilities.. Have you ever felt like that? Maybe we all have at one time or other. But God wants us to know that He cares, He loves us and He has a purpose for each one of us. We have an enemy in Satan who wants nothing more than to destroy what God has planned for us. But God loves us; He wants us to shine, all in his perfect timing. We are a work in progress. While there may be circumstances or people who try to tear you down, hold you back or keep you in the mud, you need to trust and depend on God, allowing Him to take control. We all have dreams and because we are special to Him, one day we will come out shining like a diamond!

Hopeful Heart

When things don’t look so great at work, at home, or at church, and the media is giving us nothing but depressing news, we can still have joy and peace by having a hopeful heart. We can worry and fret but what good does that do? Instead we should go to God in prayer and believe in the promises that He has given to us and know that He will pour out His favour upon us. The things of this world will not last; we have something more important to look forward to – everlasting life with our heavenly Father. This world is not our home and the peace and hope that we are looking for only comes through knowing Christ. This is a song of celebration as we seek after the things that will last forever.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.” Lamentations 3:22-26
