“We need to find God, and He cannot be
found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how
nature—trees, flowers, grass—grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the
sun, how they move in silence. We need silence to be able to touch souls.”
Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Maybe you noticed like I have, that we live
in a very noisy world that is consistently clamoring for our attention. Sometimes it’s hard to quiet our spirits when
the rest of the world is moving fast. I know this to be true in my own life and
I need to make a conscience effort to get away from all the things that are
screaming for me to do. Okay, it’s not like I think busy is not good but we
need to take time “to smell the fragrance” to be refreshed, to reflect and
spend time with our Creator who desires our time and relationship. It’s hard to
hear when we are constantly on the move and preoccupied. God is seeking those
who will listen and walk with Him. It’s good to take the “time out” and rest,
become more in-tune with His plans and all that is going on around us. God
wants to work from the inside out; at the core of our souls….there is the quiet
place. When we are in solitude with Him, we will hear Him speak, we will be
able to connect to His heart, and grow into something beautiful.
We can see that nature thrives where there
is freedom, quietness and strength. This is how God can touch our souls; this
is where true understanding is revealed. I find that sometimes God will stop me
in my tracks so that I will take time to listen….at times it may feel like a
disruption but it’s most likely for my good. You may have experienced something
like that in your own life possibly?
A verse that God has put on my heart, which has also been shared with me recently, is: “Do you know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator, of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired and weary, and His understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40: 28-31. I believe in the silence of my heart and soul God was touching me to say that He is there even in all the “noise” and craziness of life.

How will you take time
to be silent this week? Or how has God touched your heart or someone else’s
when there was silence?
Have a great week and look forward to your comments!
