It was a pleasure to go back to my home
town of Steinbach, Manitoba with my husband, to see my family and also attended
a family reunion from my husband’s side at Rock Lake where we had the whole
place to ourselves!
Taking a trip out to see family means we
plan ahead and sacrifice the time. It’s easy to get busy and preoccupied but
because they mean a lot to us we make it a priority from time to time to see
them.
One of the special moments during our stay was to spend time with my own parents who I love. They are aging and in their mid-80`s. They have already lived a very full life and have gone through many challenges in their lives. I have been surprised by their vigour and tenacity! I thank God for them, for all that he has done in and through them, as well as the spiritual upbringing I have had. I am fortunate to have grown up in a loving home.

At the Petkau family reunion we heard from
our young married nephew and his wife who witnessed a horrific accident while
on a group biking trip two weeks prior to the reunion. They saw their good friend
get killed who was only in his 20’s and his wife I understand is still in a
comma. This is so unfortunate and such a great a loss.
Life is so fragile; we just don’t know when
it will be our time. In the scheme of things we are here only for a short while
and we should want to make the best of it, living life like there’s no tomorrow
….living out our passions, longings and callings. God intends us to live lives
that are full and significant.
One of the most important things in life is love. We all need love and to be loved, and sometimes more than at other times.

Family and friends are extremely important.
I know some of you may not have parents or family but if you have friends you do
know the importance of love and the need to have loved ones around.
This weekend we spent time with our
son, his wife and our grandsons and we had a great time…..also getting
and giving lots of hugs and kisses!
How will you take the time to make someone
you love feel special today?
